Full course description

This Canvas site is a resource for community-based learning and research and civic engagement activities as an integrative approach to building communities of learning, knowing, and acting.

This site has been developed and is hosted by the Center for Civic Leadership. We seek to support and partner with faculty across campus in building high quality, high impact engaged learning and research opportunities.

This Canvas site is organized by modules that may be accessed individually through the navigation menu on the left and quick guide below if you know what aspect of engaged scholarship you are looking for. Resources are available throughout the materials and you are welcome to copy the content to your own courses as you wish.

For those of you interested in learning more about the principles of integration and exploring the pathways to engaged scholarship, navigate directly through these pages to an introduction to community engagement and higher education. From there, we identify two core principles -- critical reflection and partnership -- for integrative approaches to engagement, with associated content modules on each of those principles. Having established those core principles, we offer a detailed exploration of Community Engaged Research and a path for a deeper dive into Community Engaged Learning, but we have built bridges for you to consider how related research and scholarship, teaching, and other work in our communities can be.

If you have questions or feedback, or if you would like to speak with us directly about how the CCL can support your engaged scholarship, please contact Dr. Danika Brown directly.
